The Senile Delinquents

Biography

The Senile Delinquents are
Mikki Barry: Banjo: guitar and vocals
Kara J Richards: Guitar and vocals,
Lela Hela Mai: Fiddle

We deliver a tender blend of cowgirl jazz, with a bluegrass  edge, a folk  fringe and alt-country.
We have been working as a band since  Christmas 2011, although Kara and Mikki first played together 25 years ago when they  lived in horsedrawn caravans,  busked together and played round campfires. After several months they took different roads, Mikki heading down to the West Country where she has played with a bunch of great folk and bluegrass bands including  100th Monkey (folk) and Medicine (folkrock) and had babies.

Meanwhile Kara has babies, sold her horse (to Mikki) and headed first to Ireland where she formed The Bold Marys  and then to France and Spain where she played with
The Easy (French Jazz) The Joseph Schnider Set (Croon/Country/Punk) The Soup Queens ( A cappella soul) and Rrradio Gee (Costa del sols leading Trad Irish Wedding Band)
In 2007 she started learning to record and produce with Jimmy Bergin and proceeded to set up Rrrip Records, based in an old morgue in Andalucia.
In the summer of 2011 Kara, who was then recording  self penned album A Short Study On The Nature Of Love And Drink, contacted Mikki to ask her to help out with the recording. On meeting up and singing together again for the first time in 25 years they quickly realised that this was something they should do more often.

So they popped the recording equipment into the back of a transit van and headed down to Southern Morocco where they recorded an album of great bluegrass, country and folk songs The Banjo The Bucket and The Gun, which was released by Rrrip Records May 2012.
Most of 2012 was spent gigging round the some what soggy festivals, pub and clubs. Playing every open mic and sing around that would have then and building up a reputation.
In May 2013 Kara's long awaited album
A Short Study On The Nature Of Love And Drink was finally released, again on Rrrip Records

After working with a number of soloists including Sam Barry on fiddle and Kent Sibley on trumpet and touring in England and Ireland, the ladies took up with Pat O´Brien who is a bitof a whizz on his  Wiessenborn lapsteel. It just seemed to fit .
The latest release from The Senile Delinquents, a 4 track EP called MINOR, available now on Rrrip Records...
